Mark A. Haerr is a finance, accounting, and business value creation educator and practitioner. As an educator, he has served as an adjunct professor for various institutions of higher education as well as designs/presents professional development programs. As a practitioner, he is the CFO of a rapidly growing nonprofit and a financial management consultant for businesses.
Mr. Haerr has taught finance, accounting, and investment courses in the continuing studies program as well as the Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) program at Southern Methodist University. For over seven years, he taught the Financial Management and Securities Analysis MBA courses within the Graduate School of Management at the University of Dallas. He received commendation from the dean of the graduate school for his outstanding teaching performance, as evidenced by student ratings and evaluations.
He has designed, developed, and led certified CPE and CLE business, finance, and accounting seminars nationwide. Additionally, he has conducted corporate training seminars for the Professional Development Institute of the University of North Texas.
As a practitioner of finance and accounting, Mr. Haerr is president and principal consultant of AMT Financial Consultants, Inc. AMT is a consulting firm that provides financial analysis, management, and training services to businesses. The firm’s services include business valuations, CFO (Chief Financial Officer) support and finance/accounting training programs.
In addition to his work at AMT, Mr. Haerr served as a consultant with Deloitte Consulting as well as Booz Allen Hamilton. He was also Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Budget, Financial Planning and Revenue Administration at Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART). He was also DART’s AVP of Administration Operations and Compliance leading and managing employee benefits including healthcare and retirement programs.
Prior to his executive positions at DART, he served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Management and Budget and Performance Improvement Officer at the U.S. Department of Transportation. And prior to his tenure as a consultant and executive, he was an engineer and a systems analyst at McDonnell Douglas (currently Boeing).
Mr. Haerr obtained a Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois and an MBA in Finance from Indiana University. He is Certified in Financial Management and a Certified Management Accountant (Institute of Management Accountants). He had also achieved certifications as an Accredited Valuation Analyst (National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts) and was Certified in Integrated Resource Management (APICS – The Association for Operations Management) and earned the Certified Government Financial Manager designation (Association of Government Accountants).
Mr. Haerr has served on various professional and civic boards. Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors as Treasurer at the Dallas-Fort Worth Business Group on Health (DFWBGH). Previously he served on the Texas Online Authority, providing oversight of the public-private program for the official website of the State of Texas. He additionally served on the Tax Increment Financing Reinvestment Zone No. 1 Board for the City of Plano, Texas.
